Gala Dinner for Bicycle Helmet Initaitive Trust

The Bicycle Helmet Initiative Trust
Founded in 1998, The Bicycle Helmet Initiative Trust is a registered charity committed to reducing the number of children who are killed and seriously injured in cycling accidents in the UK. Head injury is the biggest single cause of death and serious injury among young cyclists accounting for approximately 70% of all cases.
Wearing a cycle helmet is the single, most effective way of reducing head injury.
Last year the charity became the first British organisation to win the European Road Safety Awards for its teachers' pack, Headsmart - a copy of which was sent to every state secondary school in England and Wales.
Every year it also distributes thousands of free and low costs helmets to children in the UK, particularly those living in deprived areas and it circulates safer cycling leaflets in a variety of languages.
The Trust also carries out school talks, holds bike days to promote safer cycling and this year it will be rewarding 30,000 young cyclists in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland who wear a cycle helmet.
To raise money to fund all these projects the Trust is holding a Fundraising Gala Dinner at the Royal Berkshire Conference Centre at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday, 6th November 2010.
Tickets, priced £75 each, include a three-course dinner, live music, a live auction and guest speaker.
To book a table of 10 - priced £675 or individual tickets contact BHIT on Tel: 0118 958 3585 or e-mail: bhit@dial.pipex.com
